What's included in the software updates?
Software updates include WordPress core updates, plug-in updates and theme updates OR Drupal core and contributed module updates. A Grow or Thrive plan is required for websites with eCommerce plugins / modules. Requests for new website features will likely result in a formal quote as these commonly go over the monthly dedicated time.
What type of tasks are included in my support time?
Support tasks can include content update requests for example price changes or staff profiles, small design improvements, minor bug fixes, performance tweaks or even newsletter curation (est. 60 mins per newsletter). Please be aware that requests for new features to your website will likely result in a formal quote as these commonly go over the monthly dedicated time.
What happens if my website breaks, goes down, or gets hacked, etc?
The purpose of our support plans is preventative care, so we aim to prevent anything detrimental from happening. However, if your website is ever compromised while on out watch, we'll be there to work with the web hosting provider. We cannot promise that your website will not be hacked but we can promise we'll do everything in our power to prevent it, as well as assist in the prompt restoration and clean-up of the website from one of our backups.
Does the monthly support time roll-over?
The support time does NOT roll-over from month to month because like a lawyer’s retainer, the monthly time is there for you every month to reserve your place in our queue and our resources. You can take comfort though in the fact that what you request within your allotted support time each month (depending on your plan) will be addressed by our team promptly.
What if I need more support time?
If you have a task that requires more than your allocated monthly time, we will submit a quote to you for approval separately from your plan. However, in most cases we will evaluate requests that exceed your time on a case by case basis, and with written approval via email, work past the time and bill for the time exceeded at the support rate indicated on your plan.
How does billing work?
Your Credit Card, Debit Card or PayPal account will be charged automatically at the start of each month.
Once payment is received we send you a tax invoice PDF directly to your email.
Can I really cancel any time?
Certainly. We're all about building a mutually beneficial relationship with you and your website, so we would hate to see you go but we know financial requirements weigh on many decisions and don’t want to lock anyone in. Request a cancellation via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will immediately stop the next payment. See the Support Plan Terms of Service for further details.
How do consulting calls work?
Email is our best form of communication since it yields the fastest response. However, brainstorming works best on the phone or on a video call so ideas can be discussed more freely. The consulting calls help to focus a trajectory of the website for growth and improvements. Clients can choose to use this time for online screen-sharing of live-editing, small guided updates or training.
My website wasn't built by WebGeek, can I still get a support plan?
Although these plans are for sites we've built or re-designed, we welcome clients who are looking for a long-term relationship with a dedicated webmaster.
We first like to do a Website Evaluation to become familiar with the website, how it was built and any potential issues that may arise. With the evaluation, we will perform all the "Website Updates and Monitoring" tasks and make a full backup. Most importantly we'll make a list of issues to be fixed and suggestions for improvements needed in order to proceed with moving the website to a monthly support plan. Based on your type of website, this Website Evaluation is a fixed fee.
Can I use my own web hosting?
You can BYO web hosting, although we prefer to use our recommended providers as we know the quality of the hosting and turnaround times for technical support.
If you do BYO web hosting, we'll review it first and talk to your hosting company to ensure it will fit your needs.
If you prefer to move your website to our Premium Web Hosting, we offer migration service for a one-off fee starting at $200.
